first parts with finished paint. We’re getting closer!!! I am getting excited about the finished product, can’t imagine what it is going to feel like when the body is painted and we are starting the reassembly.

Cleaned up one of the exhaust manifolds today. Hopefully will be able to get to the second one tomorrow.
Has anyone used high temp paint on these before? There is a colour that looks like cast iron.

very nice car!

My 70 Dart was also very clean, just like that. I'm the second owner. :)

I've had good results with POR 15 Manifold paint.

Cleaned up the engine this morning. Will have to take the valve covers and do some more work to strip them down.
Tried Duplicolor paint and it was three different colours coming out of the same can. Shook it like crazy and it would change from a very dark blue to a really light blue. Doesn’t give me much faith the valve covers will match. Might have to paint the entire thing all over again. The colour looks off from the original colour of the motor.

The engine is bolted in place and turns over. Just have to get the fuel pump in, wire up the coil, tidy up the plug wires, fill it with coolant, etc, etc........
Another great day with my dad and son working on the family project. We are really lucky Nick, our bodyman, allows us to work at his shop. I would hate to be leaning over freshly painted fenders doing this work.

I need an original gas cap and the setup for the transmission kick down. I have the mont on the back of the intake manifold but need the rest. Anyone have these part available?

Getting closer. Some final touches on the hood and the bodywork will be ready for final paint. I can’t believe how the colour looks. We’re pumped to see the rest of the car blue.

It’s been a while since posting an update. Here’s some shots of the Dart with finished paint. Still lots to do, brakes and steering probably should have been done first but glad it could get it for paint when I did. Finding a good and affordable bodyman is no easy task and I am pretty happy with the results. Suspension and brakes I can do at my own pace

Found someone local who was selling 73-76 spindles. They are a bit rusty being from an Ontario car but with a bit of work they will clean up well.

The body and paint was done by Nick’s Customs. It’s was a one person business so it was great to deal directly with the person doing the work. Nick was great, the reason I went to him was his quality and he super excited to paint the Dart.

Shifted my plan and decided to keep the SBP wheels Kelsey Hayes brakes. Front end rebuild and disc brakes should improve the ride a bit. Hope to have it back on the road next week.

Changing the fuel tank so before the new one goes in l’m refreshing the underside. Not fun work but the results are satisfying. Part way there, have one side prepped and primed.

That is done right. Not many will see your efforts, but the guy who knows cars will appreciate it.

Is he out of Brantford Ont?
