1970 dart right lower ball joint question

I recently purchased a 70 dart its a g code engine ordered a right front lower ball joint part #K7021 moog and it does not fit. The car does have disc brakes but I believe the car was born with drum brakes in the front and rear. Should I try a ball joint for drum brake set up? part #K785 The mounting holes in the K7021 were too small in diameter.
 
I don't know the Moog part numbers, but there are two different disc brake setups the car could have. Kelsey-Hayes four piston discs (small bolt) or late model single piston (big bolt). If you have the KH discs and the bolt holes line up just drill the holes out to 9/16". If you have the later discs you need a '73 ball joint.

K7021 is for the older cars with the 4 piston Kelsey discs

You likely have the 73/ later single piston, "somebody converted"

Yet another thing you need to be aware of is whether you have a "big spline" steering box. There are 4 pieces need to "go together"

The steering box .......spline size

pitman arm must fit the spline

and the center link and the idler arm must match.

The 73/ later "4 pieces' are different than the "72 and earlier" and has nothing to do with other parts, that is you can have later parts in an earlier car, and vice versa.

Post no 2. The earlier pitman / idler has the stud nuts on TOP, and the later has the nuts on the bottom.

Also affected by the type of disk brakes you have is the upper a arms and ball joints. You could have 73 disk brake A arms and the "larger" ball joints or you may have the earlier smaller ones with bushings in the tapered studs, but the latter is rare

Please re-read what I posted above. You can "mix/ match"

You MUST have proper upper A arms / ball joints to match whatever spindles you have

You MUST have proper lower balls to match whatever spindles you have

The FOUR PIECES, the steering box, pitman, idler, and steering link "must all fit" whatever box spline.

Tie rod ends don't matter.

One last glitch is a 67 K member, uses a "one year" mount for the idler arm


And lower LCA which if you have a sway bar, changed 72 earlier, "under" the K, and 73/ later, "inside" the K. Sway bar tabs on the LCAs are different between the two.
