1970 dart trunk lid?
So I went and saw a body and paint guy today. He took a look at the rust on my trunk lid and said he thinks it’s too extensive to save? It seems pretty superficial to me but he said if it’s not totally removed by sandblasting and primer Applied that the paint will bubble with in a few years. Anybody have experience with this is it worth sandblasting the item and any other areas on the car or should I just look for a better truck lead? I have found some fiberglass units online but have not seen too many metal replacements. I can’t stand searching on Google it is such a sh#* show. Anyway here are a couple photos would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks Hambony58

What's the underside and lip look like?

There is a little light dusting of rust on the interior surface. I also included one photo where I took a scribe to the outside rusted area. Seems like I should be able to sand or sandblast this without losing too much material? That is much less than 1/64 of an inch for sure.

If you can see a few pinholes now there will be 10 times as many after you sand or blast. Your body man has seen it before.
