Hello,

I am looking to convert the front brakes on my 70 duster to disc. Car has 10" drum brakes and small bolt pattern. I would like to keep my existing spindle, axle, etc if possible. Wilwood indicated they do not make a kit like this for sbp but do for the large bolt patter. Does anyone know if other companies make a product that would work?

You could track down a kelsey hayes small bolt brake setup which will work with your upper control arms, but they can be expensive and hard to get parts for.

Another option is to use the dr diff brake kit which converts to an oem style 73-76 brake setup and can be ordered with small bolt rotors. Be warned that not all wheels (14” steelies for example) will clear the calipers.

You will have to change spindles for either, but it’s not a huge deal.

Others can speak to aftermarket retrofit kits, but I have not gone in that direction.

This is very helpful. On the Dr. Diff Kit - do you think it will work with 15" ralley wheels? That is what we have & hoping to keep. Thank you.
 
Likely, but you should confirm. I believe there was a thread a few months ago where this was discussed.

I Used SSBC (A-153) on my '71 Dart GT. I too wanted to keep my small bolt pattern Rallye wheels (with the factory installed 741 8 3/4" 3.23:1 sure-grip). It is expensive, but it is a complete kit. I would use them again.

My 14" X 5 1/2" factory Rallye wheels fit perfectly. However, I tried some 14" X 5 1/2" factory STEEL wheels that did NOT clear. Perhaps a little grinding on the caliper may have done the trick, but I'm happy with the Rallye wheels.

Hello! I recently purchased the A-153 kit as well for my 70 duster. I wanted to keep my SBP also as I want to keep my 15" ralley wheels. Kit is great but the rotors only came with studs for the big bolt pattern. Called SSBC & they said just re-use the studs in different holes but that won't work as the SBP require 7/16 20 threads. Called Napa as that's where the rotors came from and they were of little help. Did you run into this also, and if so, do you recall which wheel studs you wound up using? Thank you.

Get a good, accurate measurement of the knurled part, and see if you can find a lug stud with the right size shoulder here. You can usually get them on Rock Auto or elsewhere if you have a part number. They're not very expensive.

I would go back to SSBC and ask them to provide correct 7/16 studs for their product. Mine came with both sets of lugs but that was almost 20 years ago. If you get studs that weren't provided and they screw up the hubs it will be on you instead of SSBC. I presume the studs they supplied are 1/2 inch?

Correct. They gave me 1/2”. Thus far the salesman who helped me has not been very helpful. Hopefully they call me back tomorrow. Thank you.
 
If SSBC turns out to be uncooperative, here's another vote for Rock Auto. Measure the diameter of the knurl, the length of it, and where it is located on the stud. I got mine there when I converted to all right hand thread on my 66, which is still SBP. They were maybe a buck or two apiece.

I've never had a 15 x 7 SBP rallye wheel in my hands, so I don't know. OP has those wheels and hopes to keep them. If I remember right, the wheels are hub centric instead of lug centric. The only 14" SBP Rallye wheel I have is buried under 30 years of parts hoard in my shed, so I ain't digging it out to see if a 1/2" stud will fit...lol. The 15" SBP Rallyes are an aftermarket wheel, so who knows what size holes they have.
 
To close the loop on this, and after trying multiple wheel studs, we found some from napa that worked with the SSBC A153-1 kit and our 15" ralley wheels. The Napa part number is: 6413148. I've attached a photo as well.
