HI YALL, just got a 70 Duster all original and I'm going to buy the Performance online disc brake conversion kit. As you're aware the disc brakes come with 5 x 4.5" lug pattern so i need to get new wheels. I'm looking at getting 15x 7 for the front and 15x 8 for the rear. I also am more than likely going to use ralley style wheel. Classic Industries are by me and they have a 15x7 wheel with 4 1/4" backspace and 15x8 with 4.5" backspace. Will these wheels work with my Duster and brake upgrade and what tires do you recommend? I dont want the tires rubbing or sticking out of the fender. Thanks

The biggest would be a 205 70. Myself I would use a 195 75 on 6 inch . Here are 225 70 on 7 inch we put on taken from my Roadrunner. You can fit a bigger tire on a dart. Dusters are tight. Lost my car because of these wheels being to big and no room for failure. I usually always had skinnies and slicks.

Looks nice, what size wheel/backspace and tire on the rear? Also, what do you mean you lost your car due to wheels being to big?

rear 15x8 with 4 1/2 backspace 275 60's fronts hit the fender 15x7 with 4 back space. The wheel was back a tad due to suspension movement from a eccentric bolt failure as seen in picture above. The tire never hit with with narrower wheels. Here are pictures of the of the car prior at the track then Leaving the first time with these wheels and when it returned.

OH NO SORRY, THATS TERRIBLE

i used pirate jack, the cheapest they had that would allow use of the original upper control a arm and normal ride height.
got it back together and my oem 5/4 bolt wheels rubbed the caliper... too much to just grind. it was hard to fond but i got 5/16" hub centric spacers which needed to be reamed a bit with step drill bit for the lugs and the center hub are i hit with a file. also had to get deeper threaded lugs to grab more thread now that they were spaced out more. then they rubbed on my fender just a smidge but only the inner lip. grinded that off and now its rolling again.
the lugs were also hard to find.

cant remember where i found the hub centric 5/4 spacer

classic industries for the new special lugs

Agreed...so maybe no follow those tire recommendations. :D

Your original idea of 15x7s up front is FINE. If you were going for a factory restoration, you wouldn't be considering disks anyway...so at least go for the wider wheel. With that size you can fit a 225/60/15...guys do fit 275s on the back and it is possible without mods but its tight without a spring relocation kit which you may or may not want to get into. You also may need a small spacer and rolling the fender lip...again which you may not want to get into.

I have 255s on my 15x8s on the back of the Dart Sport and they look fine...and they're already a bit too wide for 8" wheels (which need 9" wide rim to be optimal). Probably no benefit to going wider with a street tire on those wheels anyway.

Keep in mind that any tires available in 15" size, not counting drag tires, will be all season tires and absolute JUNK by modern standards. So drive carefully.

Wheel Vintiques in SoCal has a pretty good selection of Rallys in both BPs. Maybe even some customizing available for a few extra $$

I had 225-60-15's on a 15x7 with 4.125 backspace for years. They're on my friend's demon now. The 15x7 with 4.25 backspace should be fine if you want 15's.

Don't use a tire taller than 25.6" OD

Myself I would use a 15 x 6.5 factory ralley on the front. The 15 x 7 is to wide and the 15 x 6 , there is no trim ring for the 15 x 6
that matches a ring for the rear wheels.
If you buy any aftermarket wheel , measure the backspace on each wheel , to make sure they are the same , correct. I have found a number of wheels that were just plain wrong.
Also on the rear , a lot of times the rear end backspace is not the same on both sides So try a wheel on both sides to see what fits best.
