1970 Dodge Dart Swinger two door Slant 6 225 paired with a three-speed automatic transmission, Vinyl Top gone and rusted out. California car with lots of rust. Vehicle currently registered to 3/2025. Runs and drives tight and smooth going forward but tranny may need rebuild as reverse no longer works. My Grandparents gave me this car (they were original owners). I have driven it 11000 miles since having the engine remanufactured. Paint is not original. Power steering, rebuilt starter, drum brakes in the back with leaking hose from master cylinder, disc brakes in the front which may need new calipers, hoses, pads and rotors. After market radio/cassette not working. All lights and electrical work with some quirks. If head lights and wipers are on simultaneously, it will blow a fuse. Dashboard light out and interior light works intermittently when opening door. Interior dual bench seats (one area damaged), with front and rear lap seat belts and separate front shoulder belts, rear seat armrests with ashtrays, and seats reupholstered with some damage to a portion of the rear seat. The headliner is in good shape. New tires 92S Hankook H724 OPTIMO WW 195/75R13 purchased at ~49,000 with all hubcaps. New voltage regulator installed 1/9/23 and Battery new 8/18/22. I have receipts for most of the above too!
Photos show condition of vehicle. A hit and run damaged part of drivers’ side of vehicle and rear quarter panel. Also shown defects like paint chips on door and major rust problem. Hard for me to let Tessie go but cannot afford the time and cost of repairs. She has a clean California Title but deemed ‘totaled’ because a driver hit me ~20 years ago and the repairs exceeded the ‘value’ of Tessie according to the insurance company. They hit the rear passenger quarter panel doing minimal damage.
Lots of life left in Tessie as those engines are bullet proof (rebuilt w/ only 11,000 on new engine) but could also be parted out too.
