Yeah, just CO2 though. Really need to swap to Argoshield.

I just have a flux core harbor freight welder. Got it on sale for 89 bucks it does what I need it too. I'm getting pretty decent with it. If I ever upgrade and get a mig with some gas i will think I'm a professional haha

I’ve never tried welding using fluxcore but I’ve heard it’s difficult with thin stuff.

Unfortunately the gutter around the boot (trunk) was pretty much gone on the left side and the piece where the tail light mounts had been messed with so I couldn’t finalise the quarter fitment. I’ve ordered a gutter from the US so hopefully I can get back to that after lockdown is over.
Having run out work to do on the quarter (and needing a change of pace/scenery) I got to work stripping the paint off the rest of the car using a purple wheel on the grinder. It’s a slow labour intensive job but I can do it at home and I can control the quality of the job as opposed to sending it off to be blasted. I will still get some stuff blasted in the future but I wanted to do most of the exterior myself.
Still got a long way to go but it’s nice to see some progress

It is but it can be done I'm doing it. I welded in floor pans and cab corners on my buddies truck. You just gotta go slow Idk all the proper terms and procedures for welding I'm self taught thru trail and error lol. But I will get a bead going and let of the trigger for a split second and get right back on it and just feather the trigger will I pull the bead it keeps me from blowing thru. Idk if that's a thing your supposed to do or not but it helps me.

My final task I started on just before this Coronavirus lockdown. I could see that the front of the cowl panel was a little bit rusty and was going to require a patch on each side. I started by cutting the left side out but when I shone a torch (flashlight) in through the whole I noticed a small amount of rust in the inner cowl. I really didn’t want to remove the upper cowl panel but I decided that after coming this far it would be a shame to ignore the rust in there. As it turns out it was a very good decision

You can get plenum repair patches from Oz, try Elko or Hemmi Performnce or Rust a Problem in QLD?

Well I’ve managed to get back into the shed now the travel restrictions have eased a little. My goal is to get the inner cowl panel finished up so I can get some paint on it before spot welding the upper cowl back on, then I will prime everything from the windscreen forward.

Have you cosidered panel-bond glue, overnight curing, strong as fark?

More patches today... I’m getting tired of this stage of the project.

Even though it’s only a small area of the car it felt like a major hurdle to me so I’m really glad it’s done. I’m hoping to get some help from a friend who is a panel beater to put the new quarter on soon.
