The first L=Dart

The second L is for Low price class which were 318 and /6 Demons and Dart Sports in 73-76
The 340 cars are LM for Dart, medium price class for the 71-72 Demons, 70Darts and 73 340 Dart Sports and 74-76 360 Dart Sports.

The engine code in the VIN for 340 cars is H and the 74-76 360 Cars is L

V=Valiant

Mine is a '71 Dart and the S/N is LL23H1R26****, it is not a Demon........just to confuse you. :-DThere is a listing of these cars in Adam's Swinger registry. They existed only in Canada for 71 and 72 in very minute quantities. The Demon was meant to replace them.

The first L is for Dart the next is for low price class. But the real way to tell a Dar from a Demon buy the vin is from the third and forth digets.

23 is a 2-dr hardtop (Dart)
29 is a 2-dr sports hard top (Demon)

A Duster and Dart Sport are allso 29 as they are all the same body style.

and a Scamp would be a 23 as it is the same body style as the Dart.

I had a 71 340 Demon. It had a black and white 340 sticker on the drivers side of the hood . Have only seen that on Dusters? LM29H1B360597. . Not sure if that meant anything ?
