1971 Dodge Dart Swinger “Special”

-
Nice Car OP! Yes, the Special was the low priced low option version that year (Vin starts with LL 23 and the second L is for low trim level). Almost all Darts were made in Windsor ONT in 1970 (85-90%).

Beautiful car!

Numbers matching with a 8.75 rear end with a 318 and 904??

First time I heard that combo in a 70 Swinger with a 318!!

Always thought it was an 8.25 with the 318.
My 1970 Swinger is a 318, 904 with an 8 3/4.

Was a one owner car when I purchased it.

8 1/4 didn't replace the 8 3/4 in A-bodies until 1973.

I also have an unmolested Swinger with a 318/904 with an 8 3/4. Bought it with 27,000 miles on the clock so it's original.

I have purchased 2 1972, 6 cyl, 4-door Darts with 8 3/4s in them, just to get the rear drum to drum. I think when they were going to be discontinuing the 8 3/4 after 1972, they put them in all sorts of things to run down the back stock...

When I bought the 8 3/4 for my 70 Dart I was told it came out of a slant 6 Duster.
