1971 Scamp Build Sheet

Bought a 1971 Scamp. It's in pretty rough shape, but it caught my eye because of the weird combination. It has around 38k miles and a pretty well-documented history. The fun thing is that it is a 225 car with an 8 3/4 rear end. That's what sold me on it. I decoded the build sheet and thought it had a pretty funny options list for a scamp. So I wanted to up load it here.

Let me see if I can find a few. Most I have are when I took pictures of key points before buying. The vinyl top and the fact that it was a new York car did not help it.

It is. I wanted to part it out, but I feel too bad doing that. So I am going to stuff a 318 and a 4 speed in it and just drive it for a while and see what I'll do with it.

Kinda like the thought of fixing that rust spot at the rear window... it's just metal... i assume the rest of the car is bad though?

Well. The under structure is shot. So are a few other spots. Rockers. Bottom of doors. Fenders. And sadly front frame rails. I will fix the frame rails and just drive it and then see about fixing the quarters and go from there. It came with a nos quarter panel. Got someone down here that has enough sheet metal on other cars to fix it.
I definitely want to save it, but I also want to drive it instead of tearing it down and then having it sit for 5 years.

Wasn't me that got it for the money. Cool to see the ads tho. The guy made a good bit of money off of it. Still an okay deal though. It's the 8 3/4 that makes it interesting really.

Well, the guy that got it from NC in that post took it to TN and that is where I got it. Cool guy, has a lot of mopar A body stuff. I drove by and saw the car in his yard for sale, fits what I am trying to do with a car right now and the 8 3/4 is really the ticket to big block 4 speed greatness. Could be a fun car with a bit of time or a great car with a lot of time. Time will tell what I can do with it.
