[WANTED] 1971 specific gas cap

Bryan, you might look up and include the assembly date of your car. I found out the hard way that not all 1971 Duster gas caps are the same. There was a change to the fuel filler neck during the production year and that resulted in a change to the gas cap design that was carried over into the 1972 production year. The 1972 type and later are easy to find. The early production run caps are more scarce and cost more if you find one. Good luck.
 
Thanks DFX - I have also found out the hard way that the one I need is the rarer version. It is the early run production gas cap that I need. The build date of my car is 10/21/1970.

Change the filler neck. I need the 71 cap too. Im changing my filler neck to the earlier style. Cheaper than buying the 71 only cap.
 
Just seen your need. I will look today in the garage I may have one. It is a chrome one but not perfect. If I find it I'll PM you and send you a pic.
