1972 383 Gold Duster build

Hi, I want to be documenting the build of my 72 Plymouth Duster. I got it a couple years ago from a YouTuber who builds chargers here are some pictures the way I got it

The car has sat 23+ years NA abandoned impound lot
I had pressure washed the car at least 10 times and red dirt still came out of it

It didn’t take long to start tearing it down will remove the locked slant 6

Looks like minimum rust, just bent in weird spots.

Whoever moved this car around in the in the impound yard was not kind to it

Started doing rust and bodywork had lots of help from Marks Cars and Wauconda especially Dan and John.

Off it went to the sandblaster, then onto rotisserie

There are some damage on the frame rail in the rear that couldn’t be banged out so we cut it out and re-straightened it and welded it back in

The car had to be put on a frame machine to pull the back quarter panels back out from the damage that had occurred, also it was the time to straighten out the pinch welds that were smashed up from for a forklift picking up the car moving it around we ended up replacing the tail, light panel and the trunk pan. After doing a little work to them realize it was not worth it if the parts were available.

Use por15 on fresh sand blasted metal on the Interior

This door was kicked out from the inside cracked up the frame. I’ve never seen a door this messed up, but Don the body man fixed it up.

So we ended up replacing the tail, light panel, trunk pan, extensions, and other little reinforcements in the rear. It just made it a cleaner job obviously more work though.

We prepped the undercarriage to spray raptor bedliner

Time to decide on a color

So I had to end up painting the car it was my first complete paint job decided on Panther pink

Definitely wasn’t perfect. Had to wet sand and buff.

I definitely wanted to stripe out this car and add scoops and a spoiler

So finally I can start we the assembly of the car . I started with the brake lines

I installed a 383 and 727 that I rebuilt a few years back
