1972 Duster , starting to tear into the build

-
There are some small cracks but over all it looks ok ,,any tips on repair for this type of grill material would be helpful

About a 1/2 lifetime ago (it seems) I was commissioned to recondition a Shark-Tooth 71-72 Duster grill, and my payment was a ragged Shark-Tooth grill. I used a standard Duster grill that was damaged for parts (they were cheaply available back then). I used Super Glue to fill in cracks. I cut the horizontal fins from the donor standard grill. After cutting and slotting damaged horizontal fins from the target grill, I inserted them where busted Shark Tooth fins were bad and super glued them in place.

The goal was to have no visible cracks. This was accomplished with "filler" (super glue). I then had to paint the black horizontal fins, tape EACH AND EVERY HORIZONTAL FIN (this taping alone took about 1/2 a day!!), then spray the argent.

Basically, I tried to replace "broken" with "not broken" using a Dremel tool and super glue. The rest was meticulous labor and time. Since this was a 1/2 lifetime ago, the attached pic is the best I can provide.

Finally pulled rear window and found it to be actually quite solid , some light pitting here an there the worse an not bad was lower right an top of panel on passenger side , but only pitting no rust thru anywhere , getting ready to lead weld the rear panel seams soon I hope , and finally the last of my interior from Legendary interior to be delivered tomorrow , should be front bucket seat covers an rear fold down seat covers and rear panels under the side windows , these should be last pieces as I have everything else delivered an stored , I do need to order carpet for floor area but have it for trunk area already , its getting a completely new interior , oh do need a black dash pad as my original is green an decent shape , might list it in for sale area , most body work is done , just the lead welding an repairing the rear window area but very minimal , of course there will be much block sanding not looking forward to that , and got all me brake lines an fuel lines in so its coming together

Most of box is done , just need to get vacuum pods cleaned or replaced an new lines ,,engine is getting better with mopar orange ,need to source under hood components , have a lead on complete setup on parts car, waiting on reply from seller

And the blower motor was the worst to replace , does not go together easy , took some effort on getting the mounting pieces in place ,

started on hood , getting it ready for epoxy primer and to get the holes drilled for the scoops , hood is very straight an solid , very small areas of surface rust , nothing that wouldn't sand out ,,, wanted to get started back on something until I can finish painting firewall , hoping to get a good start on it this spring and get engine an tranny installed

That hood looks it was in real good shape and you're doing a good job on it. What kind of stripping disc is that? Stiff scotchbrite maybe? What kinda Challenger you got hiding back there?!?! :D

Used wire brush on drill to strip underneath and then sand with heavy grit , very light surface rust , top side just sanding and I do use scotchbrite sometimes , got to finish sanding and get some epoxy primer on it ,, the challenger is a 72 but the outside is cloned to a 70 model grill an tail lights , 340 6 pack 4 spd

Found this dash on ebay , is a new pad with Vinyl over foam steel core dash , was $420 shipped , hope its its what its advertised as
