No build sheet and with out it no way to be sure. Has all the right stuff so maybe.

Find the VIN number of the Nova. The second and third numbers will tell you if the Nova is in fact a genuine SS or a clone. Look for a 1-7 or a 1-8, which are the factory numbers that correspond with an SS for the Nova. Any other combination of digits in the second and third spaces means the Nova is not a genuine SS.

Vin tells you nothing, ive owned a dozen of these cars and know what to look for

From Novasource.com:

"1972- optional package: because 1972 is the first year the original engine is coded in the VIN, you can tell a real SS by the engine code. All 1972 Novas came with the L48 350 4-bbl engine. The L48 was only available in the SS so if the 5th digit of the VIN is a K, the original engine is a L48 and it must be a real SS. BTW, like 1969-71 Novas, all 1972 Super Sports had power front disc brakes."

Wait..."All 1972 Novas came with the L48 350 4-bbl engine. The L48 was only available in the SS.." Did I read that right?

I think they mean with the "optional package".
