1973 Dart swinger- manual steering box

I'm looking for a manual steering box for a 1973 dart swinger. I'm not sure what the interchangeability is on these units between the years. I'm putting a 340 in and I want the room for headers.

I live in Rhode Island and a local parts yard said I could have one for $50. I'm not sure if this is a good deal or not, since I don't know the history on it.

Suggestions? Ideas? Have the part?

Yeah, that is about 1/2 price. They have been $100 for 25 years.

Yep jump on that $50 gearbox. I would stock up on them.

'73 and newer on the interchange. $50 is an excellent price as long as the box isn't worn out!

Of course, they didn't have any. I found another place that quoted me $100. Good to know that they changed after 72. I didn't know that before.

I have headers on my 73 340 with power steering and have no clearence issues.....

The pitman shaft diameter is bigger starting in '73......

dart dave,
what kind of headers are those? If clearance isn't an issues then maybe I will rebuild the power steering... I would prefer to install TTi headers, but I'm open to suggestion
