I am swapping my column shift for a floor shift column and when I unplugged the wires there was a single yellow wire with a brown connector on the column shift one and none on the floor shift column.
What is that wire for and do I need it?

Second question.
If I swap to a single wire alternator, what do I do with the wires for the regulator?
Thank you for any advise.

What year/ model car?

Yellow might be the ignition switch lamp?

If you go "one wire" just safe off the regulator wires, not needed

Yellow= courtesy lamps...probably as Dart273 says, or could be the light for the shift selector. Geof
