I am curious about their motives also. Maybe they are trying to lure those music festivals out of the desert Irwindale's 1/2 mile is only 30 minutes away .It's been over 50 years since Albert Hammond sang about "It Never Rains In Southern California".
The current forecast calls for rain starting Thursday and finally ending about noon on Sunday. Based on that the Fontana race may be a little later than scheduled, but should happen.
We'll see what 'Mother Nature' decides.
Gotta say I'm not happy about the upcoming conversion of Auto Club Speedway from a 2-mile track to a half-mile. According to the map the half-mile track will be between the existing center section of the main grandstands and the existing pit garages. The track is calling it an upgrade to a "state-of-the-art" facility. I think it's just a way to utilize the rest of the property as money-generating. I haven't read anything about plans for the rest of the property.
