Hi guys and gals...how about some help! Will a 273 V8 from a 68 Plymouth Valiant drop in a 65 Dart? Is a K member and motor mount the same? Also, will this motor bolt up to auto trans in the 65 Dart with a 225 6? Found this forum a week ago and really enjoying!

welcome!
the 273 will fit, but you either need the v8 k-member with those v8 mounts or some conversion mounts for the /6 k-member from someone like shumocker. Correction: just need the mounts. The trans will not work as the bell housing are different. The internal parts are interchangeable. dart and valiant engine bays are essentially the same on most of the early a's

Where in Ohio are you, the mopar nationals are in a couple of weeks near Columbus

trans no k menber yes , will need motor mounts for 273 ....64-66 will work , my need early exhaust manifolds

K members in the early As are the same whether slant or V8. Motor mounts are different. Slant transmission bell is completely different than for a V8.

near canton all good info thanks would i be better off new trans or just find bell housing

You will need a LA904. If original your current transmission is dual cable operated - 1 cable for the actual shifting and the other for park. The dual cable transmissions whether slant or V8) are a one year only piece. So if you want to keep your current shifter (whether floor or column), you'll need that 65 V8 904. You can also go with a 66-up 904 rod operated but will have to make other arrangements for the shifter.

You will also need the gas pedal and throttle cable from a 64-66. Depending on what transmission you select you will need the kickdown linkage or a cable.

Wow what a snowball

Yes, it can snowball quite rapidly - BRAKES need to be upgrades, wiring mods, cooling, rear end, as well as what's already been mentioned. IMHO, you need to have EVERYTHING you need prior to turning the first wrench on pulling the slant out.
