26 spline 833 horsepower

just found out the 833 i had been saving for my stroker buildis a 26 spline, how much hp will they handle and is ia a time bomb behind 450 to 500 hp

If its a 26 spline its one rare mother. Should be a 23 spline and if its a real 4 speed with large output shaft will take 500hp all day.

sorry bout that i mean the it is a 26 output shaft spline for an early a body

If that's the case it should have the bolt on U joint flange

First thing I'd want to find out is whether or not it's the 3:1 low gear which is somewhat weaker than the norm. Bear in mind that before the 18 spline came along, and indeed before the rear slip yoke came along, they put max wedges and 64 hemis in front of those boxes.

26 output is 66 and 67 with small block .....67 they introduced the 30 spline but it was wit big block only ......then in 68 they were all 30 spline untill ODs came then a lot of slanty ones were again 26 spline ...no problem they take the smaller 904 slip yoke .....for 500 horsepower ....i would totally go with a 727 .......even a 30 spline behind 500 horsepower is going to be problems .......the factory M-code cudas and darts in 1969 came with 727s only for that reason .....and even Mr. Norm Highly recommended the use of 727s behind high horsepower ...for the durability and tourque curve.

i have a 26 spline behind a Big block but a bone stock 383 ...so i can tell you they can handle that much .....but 450-500 horsepower ...your getting real brave to use it

Like the rear of this one:

the ball and trunion is 65 and older ....and is a very stout unit ....but the driveshaft can become a problem bcoz you might have to make one to fit your car ....not easy on that type of drivshaft

it doesnt have anything on the output shaft like that but it is a 26 spline
