I'll use the wrinkle/aluminum finned ones that are on the 318 temp engine I have in the car. I just put on an old set off the 273 parts engine I have in the garage. Would hate to put red on the other ones.
As for the rust, yes its caused by battery. I assume a battery broke or had problems sometime in the distant past. Also a little bare metal under the Master Cylinder to fix as well. Will sand it all down, treat it, prime it, and paint it before dropping the built-up 273 back into it.
