273 Screeching help

I just started my 273 after a few weeks and now when i rev it screeches really loud. I thought the belt on the alternator was loose so i tightened that but still screeches really loud. I don't rev up all the way because i get scared it might blow or something. So please help guys whats the problem??

Ouch! I'd have to be there and hear it. I would remove the belt and run it for a few seconds to see if the squeal goes away. Usually rod bearings that have spun in the crank will squeal. I hope not. tmm

more than likely it the alt. belt.youll know as you take it off.

I have heard screeching sounds coming from the bell house area.
On A/Ts when something was rubbing on the inspection cover.
On M/Ts,when one of the bearings(pilot or release) was dry or done.
I heard a ps pump squeal once. Not a screatch tho.
The alternator is a really good source of squeals or screetches in particular.

X2, I had that happen with my Roadrunner and it took me forever to find the squealing.

Take the belts off first to isolate, when I had a screeching sound...............it was spun bearings! Hope its the belts.

Good idea Lance. Ive found that she really likes to squeal when I give her the belt.
