273 Stroker, 4.00" Crank

Gee doesn't the HP 273 have the highest HP/cu. in. of any LA small block. .86/cu.in. vs
.80 for the 275 horse 340. Don't chop me up here. I know the manufacturers chopped horsepower in the late 60's into the 70's and hp/cu. in. doesn't win races unless you're racing in certain classes. Just for fun.
 
I say build the 273. Instead of stroking it, build a stock stroke screamer that spins to about 7500!

Reading through the threads this weekend I think I may go this direction. Build a stock stroke 273 next year, similar to TMM, and enjoy that till I can get enough money, parts, and time to build one of the other engines I want to build. I was thinking about making an engine run-in stand/fixture in the future to test a swap before I put it in. Then when I do my engine swap, I take my 273 and trans out and I can put it in a early-A.
