any chance this size tire will fit on the back of a 70 dart swinger with no modification?

tom

I know a 255/60/15 will fit... but im fairly confident modifications will be needed for the 275's

damn. would it fit with the mini-tub modification? i was really hoping to stay that size.

They fit on my Duster barely. I say nay to the Dart though.

With supper stock springs and moving springs in 3 inches to the frame rail and factory tub should work. Worst thing it dont and you split the wheel houses and add a piece of sheet metal to cover the gap in between them.
Not a hundred percent sure on being able to fit them in the factory wheel wells.

You don't need mini tubs but you will have to move springs in.

Couple things I had to do to make 275/60/15 fit on my car. I ended up trimming the under side of the fender lip on my car about a 1/4" to eliminate rubbing in corners. I also had to use a 3/16" spacer on one wheel. That's how tight it is. I also run them on 7" wheels. I think the 8" wheel might make the tire section wider and rub but I have never tried them.

I have them on my 69 Dart. NO mods were needed, but careful back spacing measurements, and a perfectly centered rear are a must.

I can't remember exactly, but I know it's the same as a cop rim, 15X7, and same backspacing as a cop rim too. Rear end is all stock. There is no room left, but at least they don't rub.

i guess im mini tubbing. it will be my first real metal fab job. can't wait. i hope it comes out all right.

Follow the instructions by members here or go to bbdart.com and follow that tutorial. That's what I did before I started. It was a lot more work than I thought it would be but I'm glad it's done. Everything is pretty straight forward.

A few years ago I fitted 27560R15 Firestone Firehawk 500's on my brother's '71 Dart with superstock springs and 15X7 cop wheels with 4.5 bs. The springs were in the stock location, fenders were not rolled. There was only about 1/2" - 3/4" clearance on either side though. The thing about those tires was that they have a somewhat square construction. The sidewalls don't bow out like some other tires. He already had 25560R15 on the car. I just wanted to see if they would fit. Hope this helps.

Here is pics of my brother's '71 dart with 27560R15 BFG T/A's on 15X7 cop wheels with 4.5" bs on worn out leaf springs.

Forgot to upload. Here ya go. Springs are in stock location.

good thread--- I was needing this info also, Thanks for the pictures!Lawrence

Well, the rear tires and wheel were off my Duster. We just wanted to see how they would fit. He did not drive the car with them on. The front tires are Mickey Thompson race tires. I think they are 20570R15. 15x7 cop wheels front and rear. I think if you had add spacers between the wheel and axle flange and rolled the fender lip the 27560R15 would work. His other Dart had a 8.75 rear but the pics I posted has a 8.25 rear. Some 8.25's were wider than the 8.75.

my 73 dart has the M/T 275/60/15 et drag radials on it with weld drag lite wheels in 15x8 with 4.5 BS. my car only had the springs moved in and no Minni tube. but it did have the wheel well lip rolled in. i am useing the mopar 002/003 super stock springs that i raised the rear about a inch. But i have not drove it on the street sense then. but before i raised the rearend the rear tires would only rub a little bit if you was taking a corner hard at speed. hope this helps. her are a few pics of my car thanks mopar65
