would it be worth the work to make the swap in a 8.25 with a 2200 stall and a 470-270 cam.

If you do the work yourself and have the time, it would be worthwhile. I don't think you will gain a lot on acceleration and et. You can come close with tire diameter. Now if you don't have sure-grip then it will definitely be worthwhile. That was my problem, I didn't have posi, so I put in a used carrier with 3.55 and sure-grip. $175 for used gears and sure-grip carrier; $100 for bearing kit; and $250 labor. I didn''t have the shop and time to do myself.

The gain would be minimal but as 3406pk said if your also going from a peg leg to a sure grip that's another plus.
