Not much. A lot on my plate right now. I did just received my assembly manual in the mail. I need to remove the door glass and replace some parts. Trying to get back at it in a week or two.

Now that my son has his daughter off to college he get back on the Valiant.
Meanwhile, I've come up with a new color idea.

Back on the Valiant. Got the door glass removed...finally. Then I moved on to the gas tank set up. I wanted to accomplish several things with the set up.
1. I wanted to use the trunk.
2 I wanted to put speakers in the package tray.
3. I didn't want to add a firewall.
4. Pass NHRA tech. (Hopefully)
This is what I came up with.

It's a tank from a '57 Chevy. Ready for EFI. It's dimensions were closest to perfect for what I wanted without going to a custom tank. It's 15.5 gallons.

I fabbed new hangers and straps.

The '57 Chevy tank fills from the left rear corner. On the Chevy the filler neck was behind the tail light. On mine I put a 90 degree bend facing up. Then made an access panel (4" filler cap) in the trunk floor. It fills from the trunk through the access panel but but the filler neck isn't connected to the trunk. The 90 degree filler neck has its own cap. Hopefully this will pass NHRA tech.

How wide is the inside of the rear wheel tubs now? What mods did you have to do to the seat frame? how much did you widen the tubs? My 67 100 has the springs moved into the frames already and I have a stock width A body Dana for it.

Tubs are 14" now. I didn't really measure how much I widened them. I followed the standard recipe pretty much. I cut the tubs down the middle. Then cut out and trimmed the inner half and moved it right up to the frame rails. Then added a strip down the middle.

I just took the seat frames and tried to fit them. Marked where they were hitting the tub and then got out the cut off wheel, hammer, giant pliers, and welder and adjusted them. Didn't take too long.

I'm not sure I have welding "skills", lol. This first ever build is all learn as I go. I shoot for functional, safe welds. Sometimes they're pretty, most times they're just functional.
So I take it you're sourcing out the mini tubbing? Maybe take the frames when getting it tubbed and have them adjust the frames as well?

Finally back at it. 9” and 4 link are in. Rotors and calipers are on. And for the first time in about 7 short years, she’s sitting on the ground.

Looks really good. Nice work! FYI I am sure you know this or maybe just mockup but your tires appear to be on the wrong side of the car. Running backwards I mean.

Thanks. Yes this is just mock up. I was so excited just to see it on the ground I just grabbed a wheel and bolted it on.
