Does anyone have any experience with the TTI (probably is really just a Schumacher or vise versa) Gen III Hemi Mount? Was doing some fit up and Drivers side only has 3 holes and appears to land right in the middle of the AC comp. And the passenger side looks to get into the oil filter.

I understood, based on the pics I’ve seen anyway, everyone has 4 mounting points on drivers side, not 3. And, I thought the oil relocation was due to the K member, not the mount itself not fitting.

All said, I’m concerned these may be for a B body or other setup, not an A Body. For reference, my swap is going into a 74 Sport, originally a V8 AC car.

Anybody have pics? Experience with similar setup?

Yep, those are the A-body spool mounts. They bolt on exactly how you're thinking. If you want absolutely bolt in no fab, then, no A/C and a remote oil filter are in your future. There is a thread where someone was using a slant 6 K member, then fabbing up mounts. Supposedly, it makes room for A/C, haven't seen anything on the filter. Would be nice for people to follow up on the " this is how we did it" stuff.

Someone, somewhere said there was a Sanden 7176 ac compressor that fit up, but wasn’t very clear on the mount he used in conjunction. Either way, I suppose this is the beginning of many more “that didn’t work” moments. Really was concerned I had the wrong setup. Also, not sure I like the 3 holes, vs the 4 holes where load is better distributed....

I used those mounts on a 74 Swinger with a 426 inch 730 horse gen 3. You're good.

Happen to have a pic so I can compare the difference in truck and my car 5.7?

I don't have a pic, but you should be able to find one on the web. What year model is you 5.7 car Hemi?

The truck front cover moves the AC pump and the alternator up to the top. You may need to go with a truck intake manifold or an aftermarket one. There's a nice dual plane on the market now.

Mine is a 2014 5.7.

Here was what I came up with, but now I’m afraid if I move things, my harness may not accommodate the change....

I haven't kept up with the changes over the years. The earlier 5.7s (through '08) had both the alt. and the AC pump up top. I see on the newer ones, the AC is located below. Best to call TTI to ask what years those mounts were built for. If they tell you ALL years, they're full of BS.

I tried all their stuff when trying to use my stock K member. Returned it all to them and went with an AlterKtion front suspension and never looked back. Everything fits like a glove, with plenty of clearance, etc. Good luck if you're trying to use the stock K member for your project.

BTW, although I'm now using a Hellcrate engine, my project first started with a MP 5.7 and kept growing from there!

I have seriously contemplated MANY times while collecting parts and information over the past couple of months, change lanes and go all aftermarket front end. I may be cutting bait soon if I it looks like I’m going to be much deeper in to it....

Thanks for the feedback. Voice of experience and reason is for sure what makes it easier to pick a direction no doubt.

If I'd have known when I started my conversion (from 440 big block) to a Gen3 Hemi, what was involved, how long it would take and how much I'd end up spending, I would not have done it and would be driving a 440 Cuda around a long time ago. However, I DID go the conversion route and I know I'm going to enjoy the car even more (than a 440) when it's done, hopefully next year.

In the description on the motor mounts and instructions it should say that some alteration may be required. On the TTI site for both the headers and motor mounts it tells you that you can't run power steering(Need to change to Borgeson pump and unit) and you must move/relocate the oil filter to remote in an A-Body.
I just finished with my install the headers are tight but clear(Need to relocate brake proportioning valve), the motor mounts went right in place on my stock K frame. the 904 Trans bolted right up. exhaust is slightly different from my old SB setup with TTI headers. Every step takes some thought, you just cant toss the new hemi in and expect every thing to just be perfect. Keep in mind when the aftermarket companies develop these parts they are using old used up cars that were built by guys and gals that had the mind set of "close enough for today" thought process. you have to be able to roll with the punches doing a swap like this. for me it was fun and therapeutic at the same time. did I want to just pull the plug and go back? yes a few times but I chose to keep plugging along. when you turn the key and it fires up in less than 1 second, all the pain and suffering is gone and now you look forward to enjoying it and adding more cool stuff to the car. Like Air conditioning, getting the wind shield wipers hooked back up. maybe go for a 50 mile burn and waste some fuel, Just for the hell of it.

I put a legitimate junk yard motor in my dart for a reason, to see if I could and see if it would run. well I did and yes it runs so I have done what I set out to do(I did it Roadkill style). now its time to get it ready for next years drag week or maybe a power cruise. time will tell maybe even sell it and move on to my next project.

Its all worth it at least for me it is to this point.

Couldn't have said better myself.

Good insight and for sure thank you for sharing. I think for me, and probably most, it’s all about principle at this point. I set out to do this for the pure benefit of what it will be. There is no turning back now. However, I will say that I am not opposed to changing my approach to winning, as this will work. But ironically as you stated earlier with the therapeutic aspect, I am very impatient and look for immediate gratification. And that ain’t going to happen here. So I too see a therapeutic value. But just the same, if it “makes more sense in the long run”, it may be worth abandoning one way of doing it for the long term benefit. Hence the K member. Now, not to sound like a hypocrite, but there is a high degree of wow factor in, I will say, manipulating the OEM configuration to perform like modern muscle. i.e. stock K Member upgrades, improved bushing and sway bars, etc.

But all told, at the end of the day it is still a project. And having something to focus on and build with your own hands is almost worth as much as the thrill of driving a new (well, 2014) Hemi wrapped in 1974 skin. Slow and steady wins the race. I have no doubt hitting the key the 1st time will be high like no other.....

That's the thing about these new Hemi engines in A-body cars with stock K, if you want it all in the way of power steering and A/C, very limited in what can be accomplished. 10 pounds of "stuff" in a five pound bag.

I have affectionately said more than once, “once I shoehorn this in the car, I will.......”

It all fits if you stand and scratch your head long enough! 5.7 car Hemi in a 70 Duster with a V8 spool mount k frame. I cut the TTI drivers side mount apart, moved the spool saddle back on the k frame....and there's room for headers, AC compressor, and probably a Borgeson PS box.

That's the post I was thinking of. Thanks!! Appreciate your input. Not bashing, just saying, if you want the creature comforts in an A-body, needs fabrication. Not just bolt in easy peasy.

I've also fallen out of love with the whole Gen III swap thing....and I'm getting ready to sell the whole glomeration of Gen III stuff and just put a 340 and 4 speed in the Duster like I planned to start with! :realcrazy:

Sorry to hear. It's not for everyone, I guess. You would really be impressed, if you saw it through to the finish. May I ask, what turned you off?

Yeah, that does suck. If starting from absolute nothing, the fuelie is probably the way to go. If you have a bunch of carb and electric fuel pumps for carb stuff, the the MSD Hemi 6 is slightly more economical.
