Pardon my ignorance, but what is the difference between the 2 speed and 3 speed linkages?

I'm not sure there is any difference.
These were pulled from a car that was 3 speed. Hopefully someone familiar with them could clarify?

The crank arm on the wiper motor is different, and the linkage from the crank arm to the drivers side pivot is different.
