my headers are 31/2'' out, can only find 3'' header mufflers..any way to make easy adapters... without cutting and welding 31/2'' collectors to a muffler...maybe a plate of sorts ideas?
everybody has got them, look. You can get 3.5to 3" collectors almost at Wal Mart. You haven't been lookin real hard. Summit has them cheap. Screw that gold plated TTI ****.
Sure, you could make a plate that would bolt your 3.5 header right onto a 3 inch pipe but it would be no goodthanks for the repyls.... I know I can get them, just thinking I could buy a flanged 3'' header muffler and make a plate, to bolt it to my 31\2'' header flange.. I have only found one 31\2 header muffler.. not sure what way iam going with the exhaust.. looking for a low cost approach for now..

A reducer will get the job done without causing turbulence and will allow the exhaust to flow properly
thanks...If the whole point is that you want to run headermufflers right of your 3½" collectors just get a 3½"-3" (or whatever size glasspack you want to run) reducer with the flanges and clamp or weld a glasspack to it and you have made yourself a headermuffler that fits your desired collectorsize.
Its not realy rocketsience, but if you use a reducer with rotating flanges dont forget to locate the flange on the right side of the flare before you weld.
Here is an example of products if you want to run 3" glasspacks/bullets/headermufflers.
If it where me i would get reducers with welded flanges. I prefer Hookers reducers. as for the mufflers/glasspacks/bullets,Dynomax racebullets have been used for along time behind hot engines and dont have louvers punched the wrongway into the flow but other options might be just as good, just avoid the ones with louvers that screw up the flow.

cool thanks...Since i forgot it and im aware that most dont think about it,i should probably add that most of the time the reducers are measured Outside diameter at the outlet end and most aftermarket mufflers are measued Internal diameter so they should just slip together if you go this way.
I used to work with exhaust and there are millions of these little things that can make your life alitle easier and save you from extra work/parts and make a cleaner install
