Hello,

Can anyone tell me the pro's and con's with using a 3 speed synchromesh
manual transmission behind a 318 on my 72 Duster?

Put a stick on it instead of the column shift and there is nothing wrong with them, I like them, and they are pretty tough really.

Easy, it's not a 4 on the floor! (this is coming from a guy who uses an auto in car)

Having had a manual 3spd Duster once, the trans can get stuck inbetween gears. My trans may have been a bit worn, the shifter mechenism as well I'm sure. The levers do not allways end up straight up where there supposed to be. Then you go into the next gear and get stuck because the last gear didn't fully come out and the next gear gets caught, jammed in without engauging. Your stuck in a netral like state.

I would have to pull over, lay on my back, manualy move both levers back into a neutral position, and then get up and go. PETA!!!!!!!!!!

I would LOVE to see a picture of you laying under your A body on the side of the road.... Cuss words flying, arm hair burning, big ol size 12 feet and grease stained levis sticking out.......

I had a 3sp and it never stuck in neutral, but the 1st gear synchro was bad.
