I have read in a David vizard publication that the Edelbrock sp2p manifold under certain circumstances can cause detonation. Anyone know anything about that?

No idea here but I did use one. The intake is restrictive and can cause a super lean cylinder. These intakes were designed during the gas crunch era’s to help in a search for mileage. That they did. Use with a TQ.

I did one on a Ford 302 about 40 years ago when they first came out. Great throttle response but also instant pinging. By the time I dialed in the carb and timing to minimize it, any mileage gain was negated.

Definitely good to know. Thank you, Dave
