Hi All,
First post here, been lurking/reading for the past few years.
I've just completed a cam swap in my 318 and keen to get any insights/roasting by the 318 gods on what I have done, and what other things I should do. The reason I've kept the 318 is availability and costs in Australia, along with the fact the car was delivered with a 318 from factory making it somewhat desirable.
In my Valiant Charger (3200lb) with a 904 and 2.92 rear gear, stock converter, 318 .030 over, measured 8.1 to 1 compression, stock cam, LD4B manifold, Holley 600 Vac Secondaries and a set of 1 1/2 primary headers into a dual 2 1/4 exhaust I ran a 16.2 quarter mile at 87mph.
With a low budget approach, the combo is now:
318 .030 over
Lunati 10200703
675 heads shaved .100 with 1.84 intake and 1.55 exhaust valves, flowing 210cfm at .500 lift (52cc combustion chambers)
measured 9.7 to 1 compression
LD4B port matched
1 5/8 primary headers
2.5 inch dual exhaust with x pipe
904 refreshed with shift kit
4.1 rear gear
I have two carb options in the garage, the Holley 600 Vac Secondaries or a Carter Competition Series AFB 4760s (750cfm) which do you think I should go for?
I'll also throwing the car on a chassis dyno before getting a converter done, any predictions on how much power I might expect to make?
My goal was to run a 12 with the car for as cheap as possible - with a converter does this sound achievable?
