318 heads

Has anyone put larger valves in this head? How big can I go do you know? Thanks in advance.

you can go out to 2.02 intakes and 1.6 exhaust.

You'd probably want to keep it to 1.88/1.60 valves since the ports won't flow enough for 2.02's anyway.

A lot depends on the year of the 318 heads. I had a 74 318 motor and those heads are bad ***.

Why bother go get a set of 340/360 heads and go from there 318 heads have little dinky ports compared to the 340/360 head so you'll already be ahead in the game..

with 360 heads he will loose a lot of CR due to the large comp-chamber

LOL, could be a money issue and/or a class rule issue. The head can be ported out preety good and the windows opened up preety large.

You can put as large as 2.05/1.60 in it. The "why" question comes up tho. As noted... the ports can't support that size valve well. 1.88/1.60s are prob the best all around choice. 2.02s are ok but there should be some serious work to make them really viable.
