318 Intake Manifold Question

Hello, I am working on a 74 dart with a 318, AFB Weber carb and I am having performance issues and some stalling.

I have done some reading and maybe I am using the intake for a TQ or Quadra-jet and does it cause a problem and how can I fix it? The secondaries look pretty large to me.

That's a spreadbore intake. If your carb (which I'm not familiar with) is a squarebore, then you need this adapter plate.

I do remember there was a spacer on it before I did the rebuild. I guess I removed it without thinking it was important.

Yep, you have a square bore on a spreadbore intake. The plate will cover the rounded portion of the secondary holes in the intake and eliminate a vacuum leak there.

That's probably what's happening, you have a vacuum leak.

Does the gasket go down on the manifold before the spacer plate?

There should be a gasket on each side, top and bottom of the spacer.

You could also use a spread bore carb directly on that intake.

Or you could get a square bore intake if you don't want to use the adapter.

The Wiand Stealth intake P/N 8022 will run nicely on there with your carb and no spacer needed....

What kind of carb gasket do I run with that weiand stealth intake?
