Finally a good race weekend. 2 weeks ago I went out and ran the car and wondered why it was breaking up at 5600 until it got rained out. I have my digital msd box set at 5600 what an idiot. Car ran a 14.53(bad shift) and a 14.41 breaking up at a 1000' fixed that and went out this week. First run with the rev limiter bumped was a 14.11 second 14.23(bad shift again) then a 14.10. I knew the car had more bumped the timing and ran a 13.90 at 95.96mph. Car felt great and hooked good. Small cam performer intake 4.56s with 28in tire and a 3500 stall 904 is all it took. 1985 stock 318 block with 302 heads. Not to bad at all in my opinion.

Hemi, just seen your posting too. Awesome that your son ran the car too. I actually let my dad take mine today too. He wasn't ready for the gears and ran a 14.40 because he shifted off the light with the reverse valve body. It was great though he was grinning from ear to ear when he got back to the pits. Then I got to hear all the old stories of his road runners challenger and his aar cuda back in the day. I took him back to being a kid again. I love those little motors. The little engine that could...I think I can..I think I can.

Congratulations thats pretty stout for what sounds like a pretty simple motor. Now when you say stock you mean rebuilt but with stock crank and rods, right? What pistons? Was it balanced? Would you mine sharing the details of your build? How much does the car weigh?

It was rebuilt probably 6 years ago and has seen too much action since then. Maybe 5 thousand since the rebuild and that was all street driven not raced. All stock internals and. 30 over pistons. Its had one of those sealed power by felpro rebuild kits put in. I belive the forged pistons with no head work done at all. Around 9-9.25 to 1 compression ratio. I could be wrong on the c/r too it was a while ago and I hid all the recipts and notes i had written down from the wife I would have to dig them out. The cam was around a .450 to. 460 lift it was small. Edelbrock performer intake with a carb spacer and a holley 3310(750 vac seconds). Never had it weghed but if I had to guess maybe 3000 with no driver. All the seat are out but the drivers of course. Dash is custom made manual steering fuel cell fiberglass hood and aluminum rims no ac or heater core. Skinnies up front m/t steet legals and hoosier slicks 28 9 15s in the back. But then again I took all that stuff out and added frame connectors and a steel 10pt cage for future use. Like I said the weight is a guess. But for a very mild motor I think I did alright. Thanks guys I was grinning ear to ear over a 13.90. More to come.
