Hi All
My first post and my first question!
I have an Australian built sedan running a 318/904 that I want to upgrade to a mild stock stroke 340. The car will be a "driver" with air and power steer. I'm going to use stock exhaust manifolds, cast iron intake (possibly and LD340 if I can find one), ported iron heads and a Thermoquad. I want the car to "look" unmodified when you lift the hood. The jury is out for the cam something around stock 340 auto/MP 450/455/XE256H-XE268H.
I want to make a really solid short block with a possible view to upgrading the engine in the future (alloy heads, bigger cam, headers etc). I am starting with a 340 block which is already 40 thou up. The bore is pretty good and will clean up at 60 thou (4.100). Although such an overbore is not my first choice 340s are very thin on the ground in Australia and my very experienced (Mopar specific) engine builder is fine with the overbore subject to sonic testing.

So.... now the question. With the availability of really nice light weight pistons for only a bit more than hypereutectics, my first choice was SRP flat tops at about $500. However, it seems they don't come any bigger than 40 thou (4.080). I have found GSX (by DSS https://www.summitracing.com/int/parts/dms-6300x-4100/overview/make/dodge ) at about the same price but I am reluctant to use them as nether I nor my engine builder are familiar with them. Diamond do a 4.100 piston but the price ($750) is getting a bit too high for the style of rebuild. I'm not that keen on the old type Sealed Power forged pistons either (due to weight).

Any suggestions as to a suitable lightweight forged 4.100 piston?

Yeah, +.060 means a non-shelf piston for any of the decent manufacturers regardless of the stroke. Just spend the coin and be done with it. You're only talking 3-400 bucks more and then it's done. Set them up in terms of deck hieght for where you need them with the heads you want down the road. Let the static compression land where it may.

Thanks for the input - being in Australia custom pistons are too expensive for my budget for this motor.

After a lot of looking around I think my options are either KB Hypereutectic or the old (and heavy) TRW type forged pistons.
