Don't believe the hype. That's a 1hp/ci build with stock heads on it. BTDT got the engine...

If you go to moparts, there's a member doing some dyno testing with a 360.

340's were lucky to make 290hp in stock form.

Not sure about that, I just built one for a guys 68 Satellite. Basically stock with a Summit cam and manifolds. Sure feels like A LOT more than 290 hp. I wanted to dyno it, be he didn't have the cash.
It cc'd out to 9.7 to 1, serdi valve job, balanced, sum 218, [email protected]. 441 lift on a 114. 1.88-1.60 valves. Iron intake with a 750 edl. It really impressed me. I like that cam too.

I ran a Comp XE282S .520/.540 in my 10.5:1 340 with OOTB edelbrock 65cc open chambered heads and it made 428 HP. Actual lift @ the valve with the .020 lash, loss in push rod angle, and rockers is .488 /.505 Very fun car to drive with great street manors. Currently running 3.55s but thinking about swapping to 3.91s with taller wider tires.

i always go solid if it's for me.but i pound on them hard too.the 282s is a nice cam.l went bigger this time but i got better heads.....

Solids,I'll throw my choice in. Crower 31321,243/[email protected] l/c,.521/528 before lash.
Idled nice,pulls like crazy with bowl worked stock heads/2.02's.
