340 build ideas

Ok this is the winter for the slant six to v8 swap finally! This engine will be going into my 66 dart. 833 4 speed behind it 8 3/4 no gears yet 355 or 391? haven't decided. Car will be mostly street use would like it to have good street manners but of course the most hp/torque for the money. I already have dougs headers and flow master duals thanks to a member on here. am I missing anything? I would like to be at 4 grand on the engine build machine work and parts I will assemble it myself. is it possible and what would you spend the money on? open up the heads for 2.02? ditch the heads and go aftermarket? roller cam? so many questions...lol

First things first. Sell the headers. Hooker 5204 minimum.
2.02 Valves.
10.0:1 -10.8:1 compression.
3.90 gears.
Holley Strip Dominator intake.
Custom cam from Racer Brown (first choice) Cam Motion (2nd choice) Jones cams (3rd choice) no off the shelf crap, especially with the stick.
McLeod Sof-Lok clutch (see threat in trans section on blown up parts).

That right there will easily put you in the low 12's all day long.
