I've used the MP "Radical Resto" 340 cam in a 318. Mean Lil Mother, had that motor in a Truck and a Ramchargernever bent a valve in my life....
Question was "340 cam in a 318" from the OP. I gave real, life experienced opinion.
Which is a 340 cam, yes?mo problem , i've put a 360 cop cam in a 318 with great mileage and power .
I put a .474/280 MP cam in a stock 318. That is for sure larger than a 340 cam. I put a TQ on top. It was faster. I won races. Even with my stock TC and 2.76 gears.
Was it the .474 or .484/284 that they called the hemi grind.... my mind draws a blankthats the hemi grind isn't it? i had that cam in a 69-70 stock 318 many years ago,, i forget if i had the J heads on that motor or not. had 3.23 gears in it, small eddy carb and headers.. car ran damn well... idled and drove stockish.
I ran the MP .474 "street Hemi" grind in a 68 Coronet 383 Magnum 4 spd. Tall Wieand single plane, headers, Mp elec ign, windage tray, fully grooved Mains and a high volume oil pump, headers into Flowmaster. That hardtop was a bad *** ride in the 90s I never should have got rid of that mother I kind of got screwed out of it technicallythats the hemi grind isn't it? i had that cam in a 69-70 stock 318 many years ago,, i forget if i had the J heads on that motor or not. had 3.23 gears in it, small eddy carb and headers.. car ran damn well... idled and drove stockish.
The Purple one I had in 90 was a .474, for the "B" engine...The Street Hemi grind cam is 284 duration advertised 471 lift on both intake and exhaust. Kim
