hey guys, anyone know what these numbers mean?
MH340R(?) (I think it's an R, the numbers are getting hard to see) then 38330001.
and the casting numbers on the side are 2780930-340-2
And the other side has 9 28 71. (Which I presume is the casting date?)

It also has R and a 3 on the passengers side above the bellhousing flange, but it's far to old to be an r3 block.

Sure it's not HM

Likely a 1972 model year block.

3833 is the 10000 day date of build
0001 is the unit that day

Look on the side with oil filter, below the water jacket drain plug, flat machined area. There should be a partial VIN there.

MH ? did you swap the first 2 letters?
H is 72
M is Mound road plant.
340
R= regular fuel
3833 = Tuesday, January 25, 1972 (date engine assembled)
0001 = 1st engine built that day at that plant (first time I've seen that) guess someone has to be first lol

2 = 1972
b = Hamtramck, MI (car build plant)
462223 last 6 of vin
