Did Chrysler offer another head besides the "J" head for the 1972 340? I was reading something about a T/A head on an FABO forum... I would think the T/A head would have been 1970 only for the T/A & AAR E-bodies!

the 340 in my 71 Demon parts car is orginally from a 72 Challenger with no "J" marking on the heads!

I plan to remove engine soon and check the numbers... Until then I am curious!

Thanks All

Letters are not mandotory to be on the head. They should be, but not allways.
Once you get the numbers, post'em up and myself or someone will decode it for you.

The last three of the casting number should be "915" to be the correct head for a '72 340.

the 587 and 974 casting heads have no letter on them. the 915, can have a
J,Z,O on them.the 73 340 came with the 587 head. a much prefered head!!
if you pull valve cover, you will see the casting number next to the rocker tower on top of intake port roof.
