Hi,

I found a pair of 340 J head for 150$, they probably need new seals...but they are not supposed to have burn valves.
Would they be worth it (are they too expensive also)?
Is it too much for a stock 318 (will probably be sligthly modified one day, but not within the next 1 or 2 years)?
I was looking at the same time for a pair of 318 heads casting 302, would it be better to continue looking for a pair of 302 ?

The car will have a 4bbl setup and headers, most probably Hooker (these mods will be done this winter).

thanks

I've done this before. I'd opted for the 302, 318 head with 360 valves. (1.88 - 1.60) or Magnum head.

The thing you need to look for is a drop in compression. Like Rumblefish said the Magnum heads are great. Closed chamber for more compression. I'd go with the 302 castings.
