Magnum gurus: I have a 360/380 crate magnum and wondering if anyone knows if there is an anti drain back valve to the filter on these motors? Twice I've pulled the filter off and no oil drains out whatsoever ... thought that's kind of odd?
The only way I've seen this on Magnum or LA motors, is when they've sat a few days. I deliberately let the car sit a couple days on my magnum powered Scamp(and previously owned LA powered cars) to do the oil change. That way when I remove the filter, it doesn't leak oil onto my headers.
Then save some oil to dump on your headers since the filter doesn't....

Do you use the 90 degree adapter? If not and your oil filter threads up to the block the oil will stay in the filter regardless since it points almost strait up. A momentary lack of oil pressure at start up is normal since there is no pressure built up to where the sensor is.
I have had two magnum crate motors a 300 hp and a 380 hp both after sitting a couple days have some clatter when starting and quickly goes away. I was wondering if the right angle adapter worked on a magnum block. This is why I use an accusump. My car (and I suspect many others) can and often does sit for long periods. With the accusump, 80 lbs. of oil pressure dumps into the motor and pre-oils it quite nicely before start up.
As previously stated, do not put a high volume oil pump on your engine! You dont need it for your level of build, it will only cause problems and suck HP
