Well, I need to replace the oil pan on my 82 4x4 360la. Can I use a stock 5.9 mag pan and one piece gasket as a replacement? Is there a better option than the felpro (FEL-OS34409R)? Does the felpro have a steal core to prevent from pushing out? If so should I put a light film of permatex on both sides of the gasket, all the way around?

Ends are different on the magnum but the rails are the same.

I used the rubber ends (Timing cover/rear main cap) off of the 360 gasket and the silicone/metal rail portions from a Magnum gasket and put silicon at the joins.

Had to buy two gaskets, but leak free so far.

I built up the ends of the pan with JB weld and sanded it to make a custom fit when I put an LA pan on my Magnum. I absolutely wanted that one piece rubber gasket which is far superior to cork or other gaskets.
