i have a stock bottom end 318 ran strong just needed to be freshend up. i put a .465/.443 lift cam in and then stock 360 heads, now it does not seem to pull as hard as it used to, are the heads just not going to work, would i be better off with the stock 318 heads
any help would be appreciated
thanks,john

The 360 chambers are significantly larger than the 318's, so you are way down on compression. That's your major power loss. The 360 heads can be milled to raise compression, but it's a healthy cut.

Honestly, unless your cam is greater than 230 degrees @ .050 you probably aren't gaining any advantage from the larger ports. On the street, most 318's are happier with 318 heads. The late 80's "302" castings had a better chamber shape and would be a good choice if you can score a pair.

yeh i just read up on all of it, im just going to rebuild the 318 heads , im just trying to get it done for the high school nationals saturday at milan ,so its s rush
