Has anyone tried using the old log-style truck manifolds with a 360 swap in an A-body with power steering? I've got a 72 Duster with power steering, ac, Schumacher conversion mounts - S/6 to 360 LA, TF 727, column shift (plan to convert to floor shift eventually), and a mini-starter. Can I use the 1974-1975 log-style truck exhaust manifolds without any clearance issues on the driver's side? The exhaust exits at the center of the manifold on both driver's and passenger's sides on these manifolds.

wont work at all. (maybe if u mounted them upside down & run the exhaust across the top of the engine)

LOL, I hadn't thought of mounting them upside down and running the exhaust across the top of the engine. Somehow I just don't think that's going to fly either.

I guess I'll just go with the old beat-up headers I have for now. The truck exhaust was a back-up plan if the headers didn't fit. Eventually I'll actually break down and buy a decent set of headers, but for now, I just want to get the engine in and running.

Thanks for the tips(?),

..............doesnt tht drivers side exit at the third cyl instead of the middle........then they will work...........kim........

On the truck manifolds, both the driver's and passenger's side manifolds dump in the center. I think that's a problem since it will probably dump right on top of the power steering unit on the driver's side. I'll know better once I drop my 360 in and can test fit, but I don't think the truck manifold will work on the driver's side. Thanks everyone.

I don't get it. I posted a similar question (What stock exhaust header will fit?) on this forum on 2/2/11 and got no responses. My engine is a 318, but the heads are 360 and all these small block LAs are about the same, aren't they? There must be a stock header that fits around the power steering box. Anybody got a pic or the right casting number? The one I found in the wrecking yard has the number 2780945 on it and it exits at the rear between the 3rd and 4th cylinders. It just doesn't quite clear the steering. Must be for standard steering.
