360 magnum flexplate?

-
I have the 10242 for my 5.9 Magnum, got it years ago. Might buy another reg B&M plate and cut notch out the same way.
It's made for both the 904 and 727 converters also.

I was going to try using mine as a template as well, but wanted to try it on the cheaper copy available from 440Source. Since cutting a B&M will void the SFI rating, may as well order the cheaper copy and not have to pay for the SFI sticker.

Thinking the same thing. But has to b a full circle type.
SFI is ok but I would touch up the edge with some gold paint making sure the sticker is on another spot. In 50 years of street and racing I've never seen one break, other than when the bolts come loose. Just being solid is the strength.

Hello guys new to this group I am putting together a 1973 Plymouth Cuda that has a locked up 318 in it and I'm looking to put a 5.9 360 Magnum motor in it is there any special stuff that I need to do the swap? Any help and tips would be much appreciated thanks in advance

And this is one of my first mopar builds to by the way everyone. So any input would be awesome

driver side motor mounts different...and must provide for external balance of the 5.9 magnum thru damper and flexplate/converter.....the 360 magnum external balance is not the same as a LA 360.

Ok buddy so the motor is a direct swap I just need to change the harmonic balancer / dampener and flexplate / converter. Any pointers on what to use? Could I use the stock dodge ram 1500 flexplate? I have heard you can just want to be sure

And what motor mount do I use on the drivers side? Any part numbers or what year car I need to use the drivers side motor mount off of ?

You need to use the stock 5.9 magnum balancer.

You will also need a stock 5.9 magnum flexplate. Not all 5.9 magnums have weighted flexplates! The early years put the balance weight on the torque converter and used a 5.2 style flexplate. So make sure you have a later 5.9 flexplate with the weight. One of the bolt holes won't line up with your converter. It's off by like 1/4" just use a drill bit to "oval" it out.

The 318 motor mount bracket can be made to work pretty easily. Just Google it. The correct 340/360 mount can be tough to find sometimes.

Your 318 exhaust manifolds will work. You will need a new intake manifold with the Magnum style bolt pattern if you want to go carb'ed.

Will you be keeping the Magnum serpentine belt setup? It's an easy thing to do and you end up with a modern high amp alternator. The V belt can be made to work but I think it takes some slight modifications.

If you're getting the 5.9 out of a Ram truck, use the flex plate that is on the 5.9 now. As has been mentioned, oval one hole out so all 4 converter to flex plate bolts line up. Use the drivers side motor mount from the 318 in your Cuda. All you have to do is stack some flat washers to make a spacer. You'll see that there is a gap when you move it from the 318 to the 5.9....so 2 stacks of washers to fill the gap, and motor mount is done. Use the harmonic balancer that is on the 5.9 now also. Good luck to you. :)

Just remember, not all 5.9's have a balanced flexplate. I don't know what year the change was made, but my 1994 5.9 had a balanced converter. The flexplate was neutral! My dad's 1995 Ram 1500 also had the weight on the converter when we pulled his trans.

Just gotta look for the weights to be welded to the flexplate.

here's some comparison photos of B&M LA & Magnum 360 flex plates.

Can you list the part number stamped in each of those in the first picture?
The smaller one on the right looks it's for a 904 trans. The larger one on the left looks like it's for a 727.
The B&M part number 10242 is for Magnum balance with 727.
The B&M part number 10236 is the one still available that fits LA 360 balance with 727.

Can you take a pic of it? Or make me a template of it and send it to me. So I can make one for my 360 magnum. I am having a hard time finding a SFI one for mine
