360 Oil Pressure Issues

-
I'll just add, how new is this engine? Meaning has it been thru it's first oil change and did the gauge previously respond to rpm changes? I once did a fresh build that had the gauge acting weird that turned out to be some debris that got into the 1/8" gauge line.

Did not see this mentioned: How about oil contamination/ dilution? (with fuel?) Do you have a mechanical pump? What do the plugs look like? It might be worth just plain changing the oil, and filter, to find out

I've run straight diesel fuel to flush out a crankcase, and even as thin as that is, I always had more than 30psi cold. Wouldn't hurt to run your oil between your fingers though, and maybe give it a sniff to see if it's mostly gasoline. Usually you'll find that out by the high oil level and smoking exhaust.

No, that plug you referenced, you check by inserting a rod down through the sender hole. There is a measurable dimension that you check

Plug BELOW, posted earlier by George Jets is checked via the dist. hole. You pull dist, shine light down, and you can see the plug sort of "sticking out" towards the rear plug

Oiling problem. HELP!!!

From post 28:

I have an engine going together in the garage. The plug above the rear main cap can be measured from the top of the block. Use a long (at least 10') small rod and place it in the hole on the rear of the block next to the disty hole. This hole is for your oil pressure gauge or sender. Mine dropped in 7.7" until it hit the plug. Someone on here said 7.5". Its an easy way to check without pulling the pan

The answers I found were sparce, the one above seems best. Seems that if the rod goes down further and certainly if it goes beyond 8", the plug is missing.
Do you know if the engine kit linked below includes the plug needed for my engine? I am planning on pulling the motor over labor day weekend installing the missing oil galley plug. I am really really hoping to not find any metal in the oil. Melling MPE-113BR Melling Freeze Plugs | Summit Racing

Remove the distributor and you can use a small mirror to check for the rear internal gallery plugs shown in post 13. Last year I was able to get the one installed on the driver side with the distributor and intake removed, without removing the engine from the car. My engine stand was blocking access during assembly and then I got in a rush to get the engine in the car and forgot to install it when the engine stand was removed. Low oil pressure and left side valve train sounded louder than normal.

You can remove the oil pressure sending unit from the rear China wall and slide a clean piece of welding rod or brake line down the hole to check the depth of the press-in plug that goes in from the bottom of the block.

Here is the previous thread where I added pictures. Strangely enough, also post number 13.
