I've used the solid aluminum one both times. You'll see 10-15hp and the same in torque on your manifold.

the only way the ported 915' coming off my 383, is when they are replaced by worked trickflows and 600 plus cam. I'm gett'n ready for them stroked smallblocks. lolI'll trade you 906 heads for those 915 heads any day on a 383.... I have a set handy.
Nobody mentioned a stroker kit for the 383. 440source has a ~430-cube kit i like. Very similar to a 451 low-deck motor just with a 383 block instead. Not too much longer stroke either and with a super light rotating assembly compared to stock. Just a thought lol
