Ok Here I Go Again, I Got A Call From The Place Ballencing My Engine
They Said The Need The Flywheel/torque Converter Flex Plate And Damper Because It Was A Cast Crank External Ballance System.
When I Got The Motor I Was Told It Was A Forged Crank The Did Not Make A Cast Crank. I Want To Use A Fluid Damper And A 2000-2500
Stall Converter, Any Suggestios, Advice.

Thanks

I ran into the same thing with my 340
I just got them to internally balance it since i didnt have the proper balancer or flywheel

To balance the external balanced motor they would need the torque converter. They can't spin your torque converter on your crank on the balancer (the stator will move around on them and give them a bum reading). These guys must think Mopars are like GM engines and have the weight on the flexplate. You could use an aftermarket weighted flexplate for balancing then you would use a neutral balance converter in your car.

Someone might have put a 400 crank in that motor also, they have the same stroke.

What year is it? I believe that the last year or two that 383s where made came with cast cranks and not forged.

Yea, in 1971 Chrysler came out with a cast crank on the low performance 383's P/N 3462922. If that's what you got and you're planning on pulling a reasonable amount of horses off this engine you may want to consider changing it out to forged. The dampener will need to replaced along with the converter if the converter was originally for a cast crank 383.
