4.7 TPS Question

Hey guys I know its not an A Body question, but I am 650 miles from home to drag home a new A-Body toy and on the drive down my RPM would fluctuate slightly at highway cruise. With a little research it seems all signs point to me needing to change my TPS so my torque converter lockup stops locking and unlocking. I can do this no problem. The question is if for some reason I cannot get a hold of this part will it kill my transmission to drag this Barracuda home? I am pretty sure I will find the part but I am trying to plan for the worse case scenario.

Push the tow/haul button on the gear selector stalk. I think it disables the converter lock up.

My 4.7 truck states when towing Overdrive needs to be OFF.
